Cards for the MANLY Type... or Just for FUN!!!

Hello everyone! Susan here today to share some fun masculine cards using Viva Las VegaStamps! I was crowned "Queen of Snark" for Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers "C is for Cake" Challenge and I was invited to join them as a guest for the current challenge "SSOS #36 - D is for Dude". With my ever-growing stash of VLVS! images and phrases... I had stamps with fun quips set aside to get five or six cards in the works real quick!

Who doesn't love drinking frogs??! Paired with "How 'bout a beer? Soitenly!" and stamped on a scrap of patterned paper, double matted on a coordinating Basic Grey plaid. I added a bit of color with watercolor pencils {sans water} and I'm done. CHEERS!

This quick make is stamped on a scrap of distressed creme patterned paper, accented with watercolor pencils {again no water}. Get over the Mondays with this fabulous quote "I'm out of bed and dresssed! What more do you want?". Textured blue cardstock mattes and photo corners complete this Groundhog Day special.

This Pig Smoking Pipe just had to go with this scrap of distressed pajama stripe... and he's asking for a cigar – LOL! Stamped on a scrap of patterned paper and colored with watercolor pencils {again no water blending} and set of on layers of grey and creme cardstock mattes. Love the layered look and the photo corners give a nice pop of texture.

Altered Canvas by Shanna

Hey everyone. Shanna here today to share with you a fun creation.
I have been wanting to play with this resins I got and had no clue what to do with them. Well I figured that out really quick! What do you think?

I did create a video so check it out.

I loved using my stamps to create the background of this piece.

I added some glass beads and glass glitter with a matte gel on some of the corners.

Of course there is no glass on this but I thought the sentiment stamp Through The Looking Glass - 19353 was fitting.

The stamp Pair of Butterfly Wings - 19647 went perfectly off the side of the frame too.

Time Flies.

Hello, Mary here and today, we're stamping into clay :-)

Stamping in clay is one of may all-time favorite things to do!  This time, I set out to create tiny book covers for a miniature book I wanted to create.

To make the book a little lighter, I created a form out of chipboard.  This is perfect if you wanted to create a jewelry piece, because who wants a 10 pound necklace??  I also like to mix a small amount glue into my clay to strengthen it a bit.

Just cover the form with clay and give it a good stamp!  I used the Clockface image for this piece.

When the covers were completely dry, I gave them a quick sanding to even out any rough edges.

Give them a base coat of paint and finish it off with a layer of glue.  This will keep the color safely on when you go to distress the piece in the next step.

Now, add a top coat of paint and let it dry for a bit.  You want it dry to the touch, but not cured!  I let mine set for about a minute or two.

Then, rub off any excess paint for a distressed look.  My little girl wanted this book and begged for a pink one, so pink is is!

Here's a close peek.

I finished it off with a twine closure, a key chain finding...

...and inside pages.  I've used the Clockface image again with some Perfect Pearls and also the Time Flies sentiment.

Now, baby girl has a brand new key chain and a little reminder to stay little as long as possible.  Thanks so much for joining me today!!

xx Mary

Manly Men

Since Father's Day is fast approaching I decided to dig into my bin of manly men stamps and pay homage to all the men out there.  I made 3 ATC's celebrating men and the first one is called "remind him" using the Viva Las VegaStamps!  man with moustache stamp and the mesh texture stamp
and here is a detail shot showing his cute little fabric bow tie
The second ATC is called "one bar on my phone" using the angry man stamp, the mesh texturedouble coffee rings and the measuring tape section,  and I must say I do agree with him!! Am I right??
Last but not least is one of my faves called "Ecolda" and I must put the disclaimer out there that my man acts nothing like this but I've heard from other women that their men do.  My guy could be almost dying and he wouldn't complain!! I used the man in gas mask stamp, the measuring tape section, the mesh texture, the scrabble alphabet small AND the paperclip!
Here are a couple detail shots of Ecolda
I hope you enjoyed these and happy early Father's Day to all the fathers out there!!

If you have crazy friends....

Hello everyone,

For my DT Post today I have made yet another art journal. I am addicted ! lol...
This one is a bit different though and I hope you like it...

This page was started on Mixed Media Paper. I started with 'the wall'. This was done with a stencil and model paste. After this dried ( I did help with my heat gun ) I painted the page with gesso. Next I painted the wall with acrylic paint. I used a Pitt Big Brush marker to accentuate the spaces in between the 'stones'. I also used a grey Archival ink pad and my finger to get some more colour on the stones. The 'pavement' and the sky were painted also with acrylic paint. I used a few stamps to embellish the page. There will be a complete list of all the stamps I used at the bottom of this post. The Phone box, Big Ben, the girls, the 'one way' sign and the pylon were all stamped on white card stock, some of them coloured (the sign stayed black and white and the pylon wat stamped with red ink). After this was done I assembled everything on the page and added the sentiment.

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope I have given you some inspiration !

Dare to Dream... and Let your Heart Soar!

Hello everyone! Susan here my take on the Viva Las VegaStamps! June Challenge Inspiration Board. Luscious blues and greens... wings and words... I LOVE it!!! Challenges are a fun way to push yourself to try new things and new styles – and to be perfectly honest – this was way out of my creative box.

I started with a watercolor paper that I monoprinted with a blend of blue and green metallic Ranger Adirondack acrylics. Then I scribbled and smooshed on some blues and green Faber-Castell Gelatos to my liking. Using gel medium I fused a ghost monoprint on deli paper, which glues the layers together while giving translucency to colors below.

I wanted to have a scribbly heart so I made a dribbly heart mask by melting/drizzling Amazing Remelt onto my non-stick craft mat. I waited a few minutes for it to cool and solidify. Then I placed onto my background then sprayed with black Ditto glimmer spray.

I let the spray mostly dry before removing my handmade mask. Look at all the glorious blue and green exposed! I brushed some water at the top where the spray was still a bit wet and let the black color drip down. This was fun and a bit scary... I'm a total newb to the dripping technique.

I gave a blast with the heat gun to dry everything and added a few strokes of Gelatos to the heart. I stamp the butterfly onto a matching painted cardstock using black Versafine ink, then embossed with VLVS! ultra high gloss EP... and BAM!!! Wings that POP! I fussy cut and cut in half. To finish this mini masterpiece, I overstamp the bubble wrap texture and spell out "dare to dream" with Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink {this is the white of all white inks} and heat set.

I gently slide the collage into a Deflecto Acrylic Craft Frame and tucked the wings off each edge giving me a new georgeous piece free-standing art in an instant.

"Let Your Heart Soar..."

Specimen

Michele here today sharing my last post for this term of the Viva Las VegaStamps! design team.  It have been a true honor being on this team and I have been so inspired by all of my fellow team members and fans of VLVS!
Today I am sharing a card that can be used for practically any occasion.

I also have a quick tutorial on the stamping technique I used for the flowers.

This stamp is Leafy Twig.

This stamp is Single Sunflower.

I created the background with Butterfly Specimens and Sheet Music Background.

Sunflowers scream summer to me and since summer is right around the corner...

The Specimen is stamped and embossing in white.  The resin frame is Prima and attached with miracle tape.

Thanks for sharing this awesome journey with me and thanks to Vivs Las VegaStamps! and DeeDee!!

Spool Swap Results!

Every few months we host a swap in our Facebook group dedicated to VLVS!. The last swap was an altered spool swap and we ended up with some really great pieces!! Here they are :

This beautiful spool is by Christa Joyce. It unwinds from the center of the spool
with some beautiful messages. She's used the following stamps:
Wonderland, Wilderness, Your Time As A, and Bird In Flight

This spool is by me, and I can't show too many details at this time.
I'm submitting it for publication! I can tell you though, that I used the
Sheet Music Background stamp to give my bird some beautiful wings.

This spool is by Laurel! The spool sits on a paper doily (that got sort of
whitewashed in the sun, sorry!) that features a couple of our stamps.
She's used our Greatness Spray Painter around the outside.

This one is by Marilyn Hughes and is another that unwinds from the center.
She's used tons of great stamps like Cherries, Sunflowers, Birds on a Wire,  our Apple Core,
Fly, Soccer Ball and more.

This mossy bit comes from Michele! She's used our
Flower Head/Petals and Keep Calm/Puddles.

This neatO vintage spool is from Phyllis!
She used our Contortionist Bugler.

and lastly this beautiful winged pieces comes from Sheri.
She's used both our Large Striped Butterfly and Small Striped Butterfly,
along with Skinny Girl and Skinny Hat Lady.

Isn't this such a great turn out?? We're right in the collection phase of a Dress Form Tag Swap --- but you should join our group if you'd like to participate in the next swap!
