Dancing with the Sky

Well I had to play around with this art journal page. Do any of you have  those art journal pages or art journals that you use to put your extra ink or extra modeling paste so you don't waste product???

(BIG HAND IN THE AIR HERE)

Well I decided to use one of my wipe off, extra product pages to play with.

So on this page the first bit I did was clean up some blue ink off my desk. Then the next addition to the background was a stencil stamping.  You know when you spray through a stencil and there is spray ALL OVER the stencil... well the stencil got smooshed in here.

Then I recently did some ATC's and had lots of modeling paste left over so I added some stenciling too.

So I played around with the stamps Dictionary Page - 19015 on the bacground and Girl With Wings - 19005. I stamped her on some paper and colored her with some watercolor pencils. I cut her out and added her to the page with some matte gel medium and then added some silver stickles to her wings.

Here you can see some of those leftovers in detail and shimmer.

I try to use up everything I can and create something from nothing. Give it a try and enjoy the process and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Artist Trading Block - Tutorial

Hi my dear Viva Las Vegastamps! Friends!

It's Susanne here and I have a tutorial for this Artist Trading Block (ATB) for you. I cut the base of the ATB with the Silhouette Cameo. Of course you don't need an e-cutter. You'll find free templates for a cube online or you can use a cutting die.

Here are my instructions:

1. Step: Stamp the Dictionary Page background randomly onto the cube blank.

2. Step: Add a thin layer of gesso on top.

3. Step: Use the Gelato (Cotton Candy) to add some color. Instead of the Gelatos you can also use other watercolor crayons. A plus of the Gelatos is, that you can blend them easily with your fingers.

4. Step: Add a second layer of texture with the Worn Clockface stamp.

5: Step: Take the white Gelato in this step to give the background some more contrast.

6. Step: Now it's time for some structure. I used modeling paste together with a crackle stencil.

7. Step: When the texture paste is dry you can build up the ATB base.

8. Step: Stamp the The Fish in Mini Skirt and the Fat Fish in Heels and cut them out. Add some Twinklings H2O for a shimmery effect (alternatively you can use other shimmery colors). Adhere a wooden spear to the fishes with hot glue. I colored the spears  with Viva Decor Inka Gold. Before you add the fishes to the block, cover the whole top with Gel Medium and glitter.
9. Step: Add glitter to the edges as well. I used chipboard die cutted numbers and letters for the embellishing. The chipboard is painted with different colors of Viva Decor Inka Gold and stamped with the Be adorable stamp to add some texture. Some more embellishments are the Pylon and the One Way Small . Use some silver tinsel to finish it up.

See you soon and happy crafting, Susanne.

Mail art Monday !!!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Mail Art Monday !

Today,  I am sharing a mail art envelope with you. It is a little tutorial so sit back and enjoy !

First of all the finished envelope :

Front:

Back:

Here's how I made it:

I started out with a standard envelope. Of course you could use or make any size you want.

First thing I did, was mask off the address section with a bit of post-it tape. You see I have used this before !

I decided to use acrylic paints and a brayer to create my background. It will be more weather proof with acrylic paint as well.

Here's how it looked when I just started rolling on the paint...

I used: Orange, pink, green and turquoise..

After I finished rolling the paint I took off the mask.

Next is stamping ! My favourite bit !

Here is a 'halfway'look....I used different colours of ink to stamp the background.

A bit more stamping....I also doodled around the address space with a black marker.

Here, the stamping is finished and I thought it needed some white.....

So here is the finished product with white stencilling added.... Hope you like it....

Of course I couldn't ignore the back of the envelope....

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Dance me to the end of love: art piece

 Hello my dear crafty friends!

Today I am going to share an art piece that I made some print publication submission. It didn't make the print, but then I think that it's a good  example of art made with a song line and I decided to share it with my VLVS blog readers.
So this piece was born  from the old Leonard Cohen song and I really love this " Dance me to the end of love" sing as I am a dancer (together with my other half) for maybe 20 years already. I mean dance lessons, classes, contests etc, not this party so called " dancing". As as a dancer this small stamp of Dancing pair is one of my favorites.
What I did here was to stamp the film strips to show that life is like an old movie and then to begin with  color black. to move to sepia, to grey and then to brighter colors as love  becomes bigger and real. The last one is black again as this is all about the end: end of love or end of life or both/
I also added some flower silhouettes around the art piece and stamped the word Love that was made with a stencil (I didn't own any Love VLVS word stamps yet...)
Maybe this is not the best stamp art ever, but it's definitely so much me that I had to share it here.

VLVS used to make this piece:

Couple dancing lady leg up Item 10673 Plate 1132 Page 578

Dandelion Silhouette Item 19330 Plate 1437

Film strip Item 18921 Plate 1428

Together

Hi Hermine, this time I made a step by step photo tutorial again. I am totally in love with this heart stamp, it colours my world.

step 1: take several colours Memento Luxe and several rounds sponges and finger sponges and stamp circles all over you card, one colour at a time. On the front as well as on the back of your card. Leave to dry.

step 2: Take Memento Luxe Weddingdress (white) and work in the same way you did in step 1. Leave to dry.

step 3: Stamp Wright Brothers walking 19730 with Stazon Black. And the Vitruvian Man Large 19763 partial on the right hand site and partial on the left hand bottom side.

step 4: Stamp the Squiggle Heart 19644 next to the Vitruvian Man   Then stamp the  Scribble Heart 19645 once on the front and twice on the back. Make some outside masks and sponge the inner space with Memento Luxe red.

step 5:  Stamp the Stitching Lines 19642 3 times on the front vertically and twice on the back horizontally. Draw some dots at the ends of the stitching lines. Take green en blue Memento Luxe and stamp the Wild flowers Silhouette 19646 aal the way along the bottom of the card.

step 6: fold the card in half. I Always love when the design runs over the back of the card as well.

Hope you like my tutorial.

Warmly Hermine

Peace on Earth

November's inspiration challenge is SCRUMPTIOUS!!

Am I right??!!!

I have some mid-month IN-spir-A-tion for you and a short tutorial showing a stamping with bleach technique.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper and a couple of Distress Sprays.

Broken China, Blueprint Sketch and Hickory Smoke sprayed lightest in the middle.

This stamp is Christmas Trees Large.

Make sure you clean your stamp off right away.

I used the chip pine tree from Um Wow Studio.

The texture from this technique is perfect!

And I just love stamping in gesso!!

I used peace on earth for my sentiment because snow scenes just feel that way to me,  The mask and star are Um Wow Studio, Faber Castel paste and of course archival ink.

I hope you are inspired to join our challenge, you have until the end of the month and make sure to check out our facebook group, Viva Las VegaStamps! Groupies.

Until next time, get inky!!
