Forest Critter and give away

Hi Hermine here, my turn to post today and I made a card with this awesome little forest critter. But not only that I made a little pocket as well to pu in my give-away. Read about this further on in this post.

But first the how to on this card:
step 1: Stamp the forest critter 19820 on your piece of paper and mask it. Then stamp the winter wood scene 19793.
step 2: take a outer circle mask and put on your work. Start colouring the images and its surroundings with colouring pencils.
step 3: remove mask and draw some faux stitches around the circle.
step 4: mat on black paper and glue onto a double rectangle card.

And here is my give-away.  As you can see on the photo its not an ATC but a little pocket. I had this stamp double so I want to give it away to one of you loveluy people. The only thing you have to do it to leave a comment at this post. Its runs untill march 20th, after that I put all the names in a hat and draw the winner/ The winner will be announced in my second post for march and that is march 23.

Here a close-up of the little pocket. Stamped the same way as the card, but using the inner mask to mask off the center and sponged around to create the background.

Hope you like it and good luck. One of you will be the winner of this awesome stamp designed by Mary Vogel Lozinak and is called Whimsical collage 19166.

Butterfly Specimen

I have been really wanting to try encaustic art, so after a bit of hemming and hawing...and a bit of research I did it.  Michele here to share an 8x10 encaustic and stamping piece, I had so much FUN!!
Oh, and thanks to Jen Mattot for the fabulous inspiration.

I taped down a piece of heavy watercolor paper to start.  On some old dictionary pages I stamped the Butterfly Specimens in archival ink.

I used mat gel to attach the stamped dictionary pages, let it dry and then stamped the Waybill/Invoice Bachground and Specimen randomly on the page.

I added some great color with Gelatos and water.

Once everything was dry I painted over the entire page with bees wax, let it set and stamped the Gossamer Butterfly on top of the set wax.

Embellished with the Um Wow Studio chipboard butterfly, Prima flowers, May Arts ribbon, thread and gold leaf.

There is a bit of grass in there too...

I attached some burlap string (May Arts) to the page before I painted on the wax.  It created an awesome texture!!

Stamping under and on top of the wax created a great layer!

And I was quite surprised by how well you could see the color and the stamping under the layer of wax.

Art Journaling {by DeeDee}

Hi Folks!! DeeDee here today :) I'm popping in to share some Art Journaling pages from a local class I teach. Generally the first and third Sunday of each month are dedicated to a class where I teach a really great group of local gals some mixed media techniques and products. It's a really great time and more often than not we use tons of Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamps. Here are a few of my favorite pages ♥:

Other materials include paint markers, acrylic mediums, vintage papers, watercolor paper, inks, mists, acrylic paint, chipboard, stencils and more.

Four famous men....

Hello everyone,

For my DT post today, I have made a trio of ATC's with famous men.
I have made a little tutorial for this, so get a drink, sit back and enjoy !

As always I will start with the finished project:

And here is the step-by-step of how I made them:

I started off with 3 pieces of card stock measuring 3,5" x 2,5".

With a bit of washi tape I connected them together so I could do the backgrounds in one go.

I decided to use modelling paste and a brush to get some texture going.

I actually used a paintbrush for the first layer and then added another layer with a palet knife.

Here's a close- up of the lovely texture.

Next I got out my Lindy's Magicals. They are mica powders and I love them. Also the names of the colours crack me up..... (see top of pots)

I used the powder with water and also spattered some over the top. The light grey has other colours in it like pink and yellow and also blue...

Look at all that lovely shimmer.....

Additionally I rubbed the texture here and there with my finger which was dabbed on the black Archival ink pad. The texture shows up even more like this..

Time for background stamping (There is a complete list of all the stamps I used at the bottom of this post). I tried to find stamps that I thought would go with the men...

After I stamped it all, using grey and black Archival inks, I though it was too dark and uninteresting. So I restamped some of the stamps with VersaMark and heat embossed them with white WOW embossing powder.......much better...
I also added some pink splatters from a Lindy's spray.

Next I stamped the famous men... I used Memento because I was going to colour with Copic Markers.

Work in progress....

After colouring, I cut the images out and ...

adhered them to the ATC's.

The next thing was the sentiments. I thought about this and came up with their professions.
I typed this on an old type writer. Next I cut the words out and adhered them onto the ATC's..

And here is the end result again. I hope you like it and I have inspired you to go and create !!

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Whassup - mail art monday

Hi Hermine here on mailart monday. Hope you like it.

step 1: Take an acryllic bloc and add three colours Memento Luxe, but instead by spraying water onto the block I sprayed water on my paper and then presed the coloured acryllic block onto your paper. I think this work easier without dripping colour water onto you work when you flip you block. Leave to dry.

step 2: Mask off the white border. Stamp your focal image Cellular Fanatic 415 with Stazon Black

step 3 Stamp  Coffee rings 19568, December daily 1430, Victorian Flourish19417, Pointed Pen 18793 with the same colours you used for the background. Stamp with Stazon Black the Spiked Fence 18919. Then hand draw the outside line, mask it and stamp Bubble Wrap Texture 19566 in the corners

step 4: Colour the woman with colouring pencils. Stamp Whassup 3048  with Stazon Black below the woman. And because I decided I needed a little more colour I stamped the Scribbled heart 19645 twice above the woman.

And I hear you thinking, I thought it was mail art monday and it is, because I used a blanc postcard, so here you see the back side of the card. Remember if you send a postcard out like this to use water proof inks and stuff.

Warmly Hermine

Time To Dance Darling

Hello VLVS friends, Fiona here with you again with a new project I created using the awesome rubber stamps from Las Vegas!

"Time to Dance Darling"

This was one of my first VLVS purchases as soon as I knew I'd made the team and I was given the instruction to choose my favorite stemps, I went for this gorgeous "Steampnk Woman's Head".

I had a definite idea in mind of what I wanted to create. All I needed was a little cardboard box and some trinkets to adorn her!

I gave the box (which is actually a lid to a box) a light coating of gesso and then added some crackle medium. Once that was dry I added water colours and then some stamping with the Jagged Chain Link Fence background stamp.

Then all it took was ......... some depth (lots of layers of cardboard!), some old book pages, some Um WOW Studio chipboard and a Relics and Artifacts resin hand and she was ready to go to the ball!!!

I'm so pleased how it all turned out. I was getting worried towards the end but once I added the micro beads and some black and white ink flecks, it suddenly all came together.

Stamps I used to create this piece include:

I hope you like my crazy piece. I had a blast creating it.

Catch you next time.
Cheers
